He will assume the role held by Tiffanny Gates, who will step down May 1 and join AFS’ board of managers, the company said Thursday.
“I’m confident Kevin will bring the experience, energy and focus this role requires,” said Gates, a three-time recipient of the Wash100 Award.
“I look forward to joining the Board of Managers and cannot wait to see the innovations and unique solutions this team will deliver going forward to continue to solve challenges of national significance for our clients.”

Heald was senior vice president of information exploitation at Novetta before Accenture acquired the analytics provider in August 2021.
His industry experience also included positions as co-founder and chief technology officer at Ennovex Solutions and architect in Scitor’s Office of the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment.
