Joseph Battaglia
Joseph Battaglia, president of military communications and sensor systems maker Telephonics, plans to retire on Sept. 30 after 21 years of leadership at the surveillance and communication systems provider.
Telephonics’ parent company Griffon (NYSE: GFF) said Tuesday that Kevin McSweeney, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the subsidiary, will succeed Battaglia after he steps down from the president role.
“Joe has positioned Telephonics to grow its key business areas and competencies in integrated information, communication and sensor systems, ” said Griffon CEO Ronald Kramer.
Battaglia has led the organization’s efforts to build radar, friend or foe identification and air traffic management technologies for the defense and civilian sectors.
The 50-year defense industry veteran will remain with Griffon as a consultant.
McSweeney joined Telephonics in 2004 after he previously held positions of increasing responsibility at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), including as a software program manager and vice president for the contractor’s maritime, safety, security and surveillance business line.
Prior to Lockheed, he was a software engineer at Grumman Aerospace, a predecessor company of Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).
