Jonathan Casey to Lead Raytheon-Rafael Area Protection Systems JV as CEO

Raytheon-Rafael Area Protection Systems, or R2S, has appointed Jonathan Casey as its new CEO. Casey confirmed his new role in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.

R2S is a joint venture between Raytheon Technologies and Israel-based defense technology provider Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The firm was established to build Iron Dome systems and manufacture SkyHunter rocket interceptors. 

Who is the CEO of R2S?

Casey is a long-time leader at Raytheon. Prior to his appointment, he served as the company’s product line director and general manager of the air defense portfolio. In the role, he oversaw programs that support the U.S. Army and the Israeli Ministry of Defense. He was also involved in key programs such as the U.S. Army’s Indirect Fire Protection Capability and the Israel Defense Forces’ David’s Sling system. 

He also held the role of director of business development within Raytheon’s Homeland & Regional Missile Defense division, where he led the capture of new opportunities and developed a growth strategy for the company’s advanced radars, alternative missile missions and integrated system-of-systems solutions offerings.

Casey joined Raytheon in May 2004 as a systems engineer. 

Earlier in his career, the aerospace and defense industry leader worked as an engineer for the audio technology company Bose. 

Casey gained his bachelor’s degrees in electrical and computer engineering and a master’s in marketing and technological innovation from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
