Johns Hopkins APL Books Potential $10.6B Contract for DOD RDT&E Services

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory has received a potential 10-year, $10.6 billion contract from the U.S. Navy to perform research, development, test and evaluation work for the Department of Defense.

The award has a five-year base value of $4.4 billion and will reach its potential value if all options are exercised, DOD said Monday.

Under the contract, APL will support department programs in various competency areas such as space science and engineering, submarine security and survivability, and combat systems and guided missiles.

The Navy will obligate $6.8 million at the time of the award from the branch’s RDT&E funds for fiscal 2022.

Naval Sea Systems Command is the contracting activity and did not conduct a competition for the cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
