JihFen Lei, general manager of the surveillance group at Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY), has been appointed executive vice president for the defense business under the company’s Teledyne FLIR subsidiary.
She will lead the newly rebranded segment that consolidates the surveillance and unmanned and integrated solutions units of the sensor provider, Teledyne said Tuesday.
The defense business maintains a portfolio of thermal imaging, intelligent sensing and unmanned system offerings.
Lei first joined the company in 2015 after a 15-year career with NASA, where she previously was director of research and technology at the space agency’s Glenn Research Center.
She left Teledyne in early 2019 to serve at the Department of Defense. Her service at the Pentagon lasted for more than two years, with her last role being acting deputy undersecretary of research and engineering for DOD’s science and technology enterprise before she returned to the company in June 2021.
David Cullin, acting general manager of the UIS business prior to the rebranding move, will report to Lei upon his transition to VP and GM positions under Teledyne FLIR Defense.
