James Mattis
James Mattis, former defense secretary and a two-time Wash100 award recipient, will join business consulting services provider The Cohen Group in October as a senior counselor.
Mattis is a Marine, a student of history, a scholar and teacher, and a public servant in the truest sense of the term. We are honored to be working with him, and our clients will benefit from his knowledge and guidance, Bill Cohen, chairman of The Cohen Group and former defense secretary, said in a statement published Monday.
Mattis, who served as secretary of the Department of Defense between January 2017 and December 2018, is a retired U.S. Marine Corps general. His four-decade military career included time as head of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Joint Forces Command and NATOs Supreme Allied Command for Transformation.
He sits on the board of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and is the Davies Family Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Stanford Universitys Hoover Institution.
