Jake Sauer, senior director of of the survivability and strike business area at Ball Aerospace, has been promoted to vice president and general manager of the company’s tactical solutions unit.
He will succeed Rob Freedman, who is due to retire by the end of the year after 21 years of service, Ball said Wednesday.
Sauer started his career at the Boulder, Colo.-based aerospace firm in 2012 and helped the company expand its mission analysis offerings. He also took part in the U.S. Air Force’s air vehicle survivability initiatives during his tenure at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lincoln Laboratory.
“His vision and deep understanding of our customers missions make him an ideal leader to advance Balls growth objectives in our TS business,” said Rob Strain, president of Ball Aerospace.
