Jacobs Gets Army Green Light for Shallow Land Disposal Area Remediation Work; Steve Arnette Quoted

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District has given Jacobs Engineering Group (NYSE: JEC) a notice to proceed to perform remediation work at the Shallow Land Disposal Area in Parks Township, Pa., under a potential 10-year, $350M single-award contract.

Jacobs said Thursday the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a five-year base term and five option years and includes safety plans and work site development, storage, excavation and transport processing of radioactively contaminated waste and soils.

“Winning this project involving challenging radiological waste remediation increases our global nuclear market presence and leverages our depth of environmental experience,” said Steve Arnette, senior vice president of aerospace, technology and nuclear business at Jacobs.

SLDA is a 44-acre site used as a disposal area for radioactive materials produced under the Atomic Energy Commission during the 1950s and is part of the USACE™s Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program.
