JD Irving Selects Systecon Analytics Tech to Support Canadian Surface Combatant Program

Canada-based J.D. Irving and Systecon’s U.S. arm have partnered to help the Canadian navy accelerate digital transformation efforts for its fleet of surface combatant ships through the adoption of analytics and life cycle management platforms, GovCon Wire has learned.

Under the partnership, J.D. Irving will use Systecon’s Opus Suite software to enable the Canadian Surface Combatant program to perform predictive analytics, maintenance planning, reliability engineering, life cycle costing and fleet optimization and simulation.

Justin Woulfe, chief technology officer at Systecon North America, said the selection of the company’s software offering by J.D. Irving and the Canadian navy seeks to demonstrate the technological advantage that Systecon offers through the use of predictive analytics.

Opus Suite is a set of software platforms meant to help organizations analyze and predict the impact of decisions related to technical design, operations planning and other factors on cost and performance of a technical system throughout the platform’s life cycle.

The CSC program is part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy and seeks to provide capabilities to support the country’s surface maritime warfare operations. The initiative seeks to create jobs and revitalize Canada’s shipbuilding sector.
