TYSONS CORNER, VA, October 18, 2018 Amazon Web Services is collaborating with Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) to create a cloud-based satellite service that will work to support the former’s internet of things applications, ExecutiveBiz reported Sept. 28.
Iridium said Sept. 27 its satellite network will underpin Iridium CloudConnect, which is scheduled for availability in 2019, as it facilitates global coverage for IoT applications even in areas without cellular service.
Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium and a four-time Wash100 awardee, said the new service is anticipated to advance satellite IoT capabilities with lower costs and risk as well as an accelerated time to market.
