Desch wrote in a USA Today opinion piece published May 14 that the Trump administration should ensure accountability among satellite operators and initiate programs related to future space activities, particularly in manufacturing satellites, amid startups’ development and launch of satellites at low cost, which he said makes the units potentially replaceable and vulnerable to failure.
