HII’s (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division named the successors of three senior leadership positions that will be vacated by retiring vice presidents Todd West, Gary Fuller and Ron Murray.
The company said Wednesday it promoted Rob Check as VP of in-service aircraft carrier programs, Thomasina Wright as VP of fleet support programs and Les Smith as VP of the Enterprise and Doris Miller aircraft carriers.
Check will replace West, outgoing VP of in-service aircraft carrier refueling and complex overhaul programs. Check previously served as program director for the Virginia-class submarine, and is an experienced submarine and aircraft carrier mechanical engineer.
Wright will take over for Fuller as head of fleet support. Her most recent role was as program director for the USS John C. Stennis RCOH.
The retirement of Ron Murray as VP of quality prompted NNS to restructure leadership in some divisions. Manufacturing VP Julia Jones will step into Murray’s role, while Brian Fields, head of the Enterprise and Doris Miller accounts, will move in to Jones’ post.
Smith ascends to the senior leadership team from his role as program director for Enterprise and Doris Miller.
