The agency said Friday the Phoenix, Arizona-based firm will support the final phase of a critical infrastructure development project at the Calexico West Land Port of Entry.
The major modernization and expansion initiative is aimed at boosting the land port of entry’s capacity, security and effficiency.
Hensel Phelps will build a new 33,000 square foot pedestrian processing facility as part of the project. Construction is expected to run from summer 2025 to winter 2028.
“By incorporating advanced technologies and sustainable materials, we are ensuring that the Calexico West Land Port of Entry meets the highest standards of safety, comfort and environmental responsibility,” said GSA Pacific Rim Region Administrator Sukhee Kang.
Aside from the California port, Hensel Phelps is also working on the modernization and expansion of the San Luis I Land Port of Entry in Arizona.
The firm was awarded a $228.1 million GSA contract for design-build services. It started work on the project in May 2024.
