TYSONS CORNER, VA, Nov. 1, 2016 The government of Florida has awarded Harris (NYSE: HRS) a potential 14-year, $700 million contract to construct a communications network designed to link public safety agencies, law enforcement, public schools and other government organizations throughout the state, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.
The company said Monday it will work with various partners to establish the MyFloridaNet-2, which will utilize a state-wide infrastructure with the Harris Trusted Enterprise Network backbone to help connect 4, 000 sites and provide an estimated 4, 700 connections.
“By implementing this state-wide communications infrastructure, Floridas state and local agencies will be connected so they can work together seamlessly and efficiently, whether in emergency situations or conducting routine business, ” said Carl DAlessandro, president of Harris critical networks business.
