The General Services Administration has awarded W.M. Jordan Co. a $95.6 million contract to build a new research-and-development laboratory at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.
W.M. Jordan is tasked to complete construction of the Measurement Systems Laboratory by late 2019 as part of Langley’s 20-year revitalization plan, NASA said Thursday.
The 175, 000-square-foot facility will replace aging structures and facilitate research and development of new measurement concepts, technologies and systems meant to support NASA™s space exploration, science and aeronautics missions.
“It will also boost the regional economy by providing several hundred construction-related jobs for the next few years, said Dave Bowles, Langley’s director.
NASA plans to add 40 modular research labs for electronics, lasers, clean rooms and instrumentation studies to the facility.
