The General Services Administration has raised the ceiling value of the Streamlined Technology Application Resource for Services II contract for information technology vendors certified under the Small Business Administration 8(a) program from $15B to $22B.
GSA said Wednesday the $7B increase to the 8(a) STARS II governmentwide acquisition contract’s ceiling seeks to reflect the agency’s commitment to providing the federal acquisition community access to small business partners that are working to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are 787 IT vendors on the 8(a) STARS II GWAC, which has helped more than 50 federal agencies since 2011 to plan and carry out long-term IT projects.
“By raising the 8(a) STARS II ceiling, GSA continues to ensure that we meet the needs of our federal agency customers,” said Emily Murphy, administrator of GSA and a 2020 Wash100 Award winner. “As agency demand for IT products and services has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, GSA is proud that STARS II will remain available to help agencies deliver world class IT services.”
The ordering period for the 8(a) STARS II GWAC will run through Aug. 30, 2021, and work on new task orders can continue through June 30, 2022.
Laura Stanton, acting assistant commissioner of IT category at GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, wrote in a blog post that the agency plans to issue the final request for proposals for 8(a) STARS III before the end of fiscal year 2020.
