Greg Pelton, most recently the chief product officer of artificial intelligence company Pryon, will join Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) to succeed the retiring Hermon Pon as chief technical officer.
Pelton will oversee Iridium’s technology development and engineering functions and technical aspects of its product and service offerings, the company said Monday.
His responsibilities at the McLean, Virginia-based satellite communications provider will encompass system design, integration and validation, technical strategy and performance and analysis.
At Pryon, he managed the AI developer’s portfolio of augmented intelligence platforms for more than two years.
He previously held leadership roles at Polycom, Avaya and Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO), where he focused on satellite-based internet routing projects.
The telecommunication and networking industry veteran has received 39 patents to date.
