Muhlner brings to the role over 15 years of business development and sales experience in the federal government sector, the company said Wednesday.
He most recently served as VP of sales at Rebellion Defense and worked at Amazon Web Services as head of sales for the Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps.
He spent more than a decade as a Navy SEAL officer and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Braithwaite became the 77th secretary of the Navy in 2020. Prior to the role, he served as the U.S. ambassador to Norway. He is a retired U.S. Navy rear admiral whose naval career included time as an ensign, naval aviator, public affairs officer and vice chief of information.
After leaving active duty, Braithwaite continued to serve in the Navy Reserve and held executive leadership roles in the health care and chemical industries.
Atom Computing CEO Rob Hays said the appointment of Muhlner and Braithwaite will help position the company as it partners with the U.S. government to advance the adoption of quantum computing.
