Greg Agnew, a partner at Acorn Growth Companies and a two-decade financial services industry veteran, has been appointed to lead the private equity firm’s mergers and acquisitions group.
He will also succeed the retiring Robert Hinaman as head of Acorn’s Washington, D.C. office, the company said June 30.
Agnew will oversee intermediary relationships, sourcing functions and M&A processes that encompass evaluation, due diligence, financing, closing and post-investment activities.
Prior to joining Acorn in 2018, he worked at Canaccord Genuity and established the company’s U.S. aerospace, defense and government contracting investment banking group.
His career also includes time at FBR Capital Markets, where he led the firm’s A&D investment banking practice and Quarterdeck Investment Partners, where his responsibilities covered M&As in the aerospace, defense, and government contracting segments.
Acorn said Hinaman will remain with the firm as an adviser to support the transition process through September.
