Dennis Reilly, vice president of federal at Gigamon, has said government agencies should have pervasive visibility into their virtual and physical networks, cloud environments and encrypted traffic to quickly detect breaches and defend their information technology infrastructure against adversaries.

He said a next-generation network packet broker is one of the technologies that could provide such visibility to agencies and help them maximize the return on cyber investment while ensuring a stronger cybersecurity posture.
œWith an NGNPB, agencies can have their cybersecurity, network and application tools performing at peak capacity, he added.
He cited how the Department of Homeland Security™s Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program provides agencies access to NGNPBs and other force-multiplying technologies and the need for agencies to continue determining new approaches to hire and retain skilled cyber professionals.
