General Dynamics to Deliver 105 mm M724A2 Training Cartridges to Army

General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) ordnance and tactical systems business will supply 105 mm M724A2 reduced-range training cartridges to the U.S. Army under a five-year, $49.3 million firm-fixed-price procurement contract.

The Department of Defense said Wednesday Army Contracting Command will award individual orders that will determine contract work locations and funding.

St. Petersburg, Florida-based General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is expected to complete delivery of 105 mm M724A2 rounds by May 25, 2026.

The Army employs the cartridge as a surrogate for tank-mounted 105mm gun cannon rounds. Soldiers under gunnery training use the M724A2, whose flight projectile lacks a severe cartridge’s penetrating capability, as a practice round.

ACC held an online solicitation for the contract and received two bids.
