TYSONS CORNER, VA, Sept. 20, 2017 ” General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) has supported the final data transmission of NASA‘s Cassini spacecraft before the Saturn orbiter ended its 13-year mission, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.
The company said Friday it built the transponder or radio that Cassini had used to send images and other data about its exploration of Saturn to Earth throughout the spacecraft’s lifespan.
“The engineers who designed and built this radio never dreamed it would continue to tell the story of Saturn as it thrived in the harsh environment of space for more than 13-years,” said Manny Mora, vice president and general manager of the space and intelligence systems business within General Dynamics Mission Systems.
