TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 25, 2016 A General Atomics scientist has testified before a subpanel of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in support of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission‘s modernization efforts, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.
The company said Thursday Christina Back, its vice president for nuclear technologies and materials, also discussed the principles that form the basis of the General Atomics Energy Multiplier Module advanced reactor concept.
“The following four core principles should guide the design of an ‘advanced reactor’ to ensure commercial success: It must produce cost-competitive clean electricity, be safer, produce significantly less waste and reduce proliferation risk, ” she told the subcommittee on clean air and nuclear energy.
