GDIT Secures $1.2B IT Contract Supporting US Army Europe, Africa

General Dynamics Information Technology has received a $1.25 billion task order to continue modernizing and securing IT systems for U.S. Army Europe and Africa. The Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services 2 award, announced in September, includes a five-month transition period followed by seven option years, GDIT said Thursday.

Supporting a Complex, Global Mission

U.S. Army Europe and Africa directs combat-ready land forces across a vast, geographically dispersed theater, coordinating not only its own formations but also NATO and allied mission partners. The command’s environment spans multiple networks, diverse operating locations and a wide user base — all of which demand flexible, resilient IT services to maintain deterrence and operational effectiveness.

Focus on Cybersecurity and Digital Resilience

Under the task order, GDIT will modernize U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s network infrastructure, strengthen its mission partner network and implement advanced cybersecurity measures to safeguard critical systems. The company will also apply technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and data analytics to improve interoperability and support faster, data-driven decision-making. The technologies are intended to help commanders act quickly with reliable information while reducing technical barriers between mission partners.

“A modern, secure and resilient IT network is critical to U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s deterrence and readiness posture,” said Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s senior vice president for defense. “We look forward to continuing to deliver a modern digital backbone that will enable our soldiers and commanders to stay connected, coordinate seamlessly with mission partners and act decisively on the battlefield.”

Building on Long-Standing Army Partnerships

The task order extends GDIT’s long history of delivering technology and mission support across the Army. Earlier this year, the company won an Integrated Base Defense Sustainment Support award to strengthen installation security. GDIT also supports advanced training programs that serve hundreds of thousands of service members worldwide.
