President Joe Biden on Saturday signed into law an appropriations package that includes the $825 billion defense spending bill for fiscal year 2024.
The consolidated appropriations measure would provide funding for federal agencies through the end of September, the White House said Saturday.
Defense News reported the House passed the bipartisan package in a 286-134 vote, while the Senate voted 74-24 to approve the legislation.
The defense spending measure released Thursday by the appropriations committees of the House and Senate reflects a $27 billion increase from the FY 2023 enacted funding level.
The FY 2024 Defense Appropriations Act would provide $33.6 billion in funding for the planned construction of eight new Navy ships; $3.72 billion for Army combat vehicles; $2.3 billion for the Next Generation Air Dominance program and collaborative combat aircraft development; and $1.8 billion for 10 additional P-8 maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft.
The U.S. Space Force would receive $18.7 billion in research and development funding, reflecting a 12 percent increase from the prior fiscal year’s enacted funding level.
The proposed legislation would provide $343 million in funding for Joint All-Domain Command and Control and more than $200 million for the Replicator program to support the development and deployment of attritable, autonomous systems.
