Charlie Sowell, a retired U.S. Navy commander and a former senior vice president at Salient CRGT, has joined Reston, Virginia-based information technology services contractor iWorks as chief operating officer.
The more than 30-year national community veteran will lead iWorks’ business development efforts in the personnel security, insider threat, security clearance reform and background investigation technology markets, the company said Thursday.
He previously held various roles within the government including deputy assistant director for special security and program executive for security clearance reform at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
He also served under various positions at McDonald Bradley, ORIONScientific Systems and SRA International.
Sowell received a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Old Dominion University and a master’s degree in strategic intelligence from the Joint Military Intelligence College.
