Keith Alexander , former director of the National Security Agency and a previous Wash100 awardee, has joined the board of directors of Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN), CNBC reported Wednesday.
He will bring to the company’s 11-person board his cybersecurity and national security experience.
Alexander serves as board chairman, co-CEO and president of IronNet Cybersecurity , a company he founded in 2014. The retired four-star Army general served as head of U.S. Cyber Command between 2010 and 2014.
Amazon cited Alexander’s public policy experience as the reason for his appointment to the board and told the publication that his role as a board member will not have any overlap with the management of Amazon Web Services .
