Thomas Moore, a 39-year U.S. Navy veteran and former commander of Naval Sea Systems Command, has joined federal management consulting firm Deep Water Point as a principal.
The retired vice admiral will work as part of Deep Water Point’s consulting practice to help build up its team focused on serving the defense sector, the company said Wednesday.
Bon Bouchard, a partner and the defense sector lead at Deep Water Point, said Moore brings leadership experience in the development, procurement and delivery of nuclear powered and underwater vessels.
As the 44th NAVSEA chief, Moore led approximately 74,000 civilian and military personnel worldwide focused on ship and submarine system development work. He authored the “Campaign Plan to Expand the Advantage,” which outlined the command’s mission priorities to ensure on-time delivery of vessels to the fleet, build a culture of affordability and strengthen cybersecurity.
Before his promotion to the commander role, he oversaw the service branch’s largest ship acquisition program as program executive officer for aircraft carriers between August 2011 and June 2016.
