He succeeds R. Andy Hove, who has led AM General as president and chief executive over the past five years, the company said Monday.
Cannon led FLIR Systems as the imaging technology vendor implemented strategic transformation efforts and sold itself to Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY) in May through an $8 billion cash-and-stock deal .
The U.S. Army veteran also worked for Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK) and Eaton (NYSE: ETN).
