Vinay Malkani, a technology industry leader, has assumed the position of president and CEO at Appen‘s wholly-owned subsidiary Figure Eight Federal, GovCon Wire has learned.
“[Malkani is a] natural leader and the outstanding choice as we seek to build trust with the public sector and lead the AI transition within the U.S. government,” Appen CEO Ryan Kolln said in a statement.
Malkani, a more than two-decade computer technologist, most recently served as chief of engineering at Figure Eight Federal. In this capacity, he led the development of multisensor and artificial intelligence scaffolding platforms for the defense and intelligence sector.
He was head of cloud engineering at Mayfield Robotics before joining Figure Eight Federal.
Malkani said he is excited to lead Figure Eight Federal as the company works to expand in the federal market through the development of effective and ethical AI tools in support of warfighters.
