The Department of Energy has started soliciting proposals for a contract to manage and operate an Illinois-based national laboratory focused on advancing research and developing technologies in the field of high energy particle physics.
DOE said Wednesday it expects to award the operation and management contract for Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory before the existing agreement with the current vendor expires on Dec. 31, and anticipates the awardee to assume full responsibility for FNAL’s operations by January 2025.
Fermi Research Alliance oversees the national lab for the department’s Office of Science.
DOE will conduct a virtual pre-proposal conference for the proposed contract on Jan. 11 and a site tour on Jan. 18.
The department anticipates awarding an annual performance fee of up to $5.56 million under the contract, which has a five-year base term.
Proposals are due March 4.
The new award follows earlier Longbow contracts for radar electronics, mast-mounted assemblies and Apache radar sustainment services.
