Amazon Web Services has filed an agency-level protest contesting the Department of Defense’s process to reconsider some aspects of the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure cloud contract, Federal News Network reported Thursday.
“AWS repeatedly sought clarity from the DoD around ambiguous aspects of the amended solicitation and the DoD refused to answer our questions,” the company said in a statement Thursday. “We simply want to ensure a common understanding of the DoD’s requirements and eliminate ambiguity that could impact a fair evaluation.”
A federal judge in April moved to grant DoD’s request for a 120-day remand to review JEDI contract award decision. The department’s request seeks to address issues concerning Price Scenario 6, which deals with how the Pentagon assessed initial proposals of Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and AWS for data storage in the cloud.
The Pentagon has until Aug. 17 to assess the revised bids of the two companies under the judge’s order, which could be shortened or extended depending on the review. Judge Patricia Campbell-Smith also ordered the department, Microsoft and AWS to submit progress reports on June 16.
