Deloitte has purchased McLean, Virginia-based cloud consulting firm Day1 Solutions for an undisclosed sum in a move to build up its cloud offerings and capabilities as well as expand its client base in both commercial and public sectors.
Luis Benavides, founder and CEO of Day1 Solutions, said in a statement released Monday the transaction would help leverage cloud to support clients in their digital transformation efforts.
Day1 Solutions is a minority-owned, small disadvantaged business that works to provide Amazon Web Services cloud platforms, managed services, value-added reselling and systems integration support to commercial firms and government agencies.
Deloitte also announced that it will employ 3,000 new engineers that will work to build cloud technology platforms designed to advance adoption of cognitive and analytics tools.
The professional services firm will set up three new cloud studios over the next year in Washington, New York and Orlando, to accommodate a majority of the new engineers.
The new cloud facilities will expand Deloittes network of 44 digital studios worldwide.
