Ed Krejcik, manager of Isilon systems engineers at Dell EMC, has said government agencies advancing information technology modernization are transforming data into actionable insights and intelligence, enabling raw data to transform into data capital.
There are four areas where data capital plays a role in IT modernization and those are digital experience, big data, internet of things and artificial intelligence, Krejcik wrote.
He noted that government employees should have rapid access to data and intelligence wherever they are and cited the dependence of AI, deep learning and machine learning on high-performance scalable platforms.
Krejcik discussed how agencies can leverage unstructured data.
œPooling unstructured data ” such as digital images, video and sensor data ” into a unified data lake makes it possible to analyze disparate types of information and derive new business intelligence through cross-correlations and regression analysis.
He also noted that agencies seeking to generate insights from data should implement scale-out platforms that come with clusters of nodes for storage, compute and networking functions.
œSuch platforms scale quickly and easily, and they typically support both traditional and evolving protocols, such as cloud and mobile technology, Krejcik added.
