Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) has promoted two executives to vice president roles at its Newport News Shipbuilding division as part of the company™s business transformation efforts in support of the U.S. Navy.
Dave Bolcar, formerly director of the Columbia-class submarine program at the division, will serve as VP of submarine construction with oversight on both Columbia- and Virginia-class programs and continue to report to Ken Mahler, VP of Navy programs at Newport News, HII said Wednesday.
Bill Smith
Bolcar is a 29-year HII veteran who has held senior leadership positions at the firm, such as director of submarine engineering and manager of Columbia-class propulsion engineering and Ford-class aircraft carrier component engineering.
Bill Smith, formerly program director for aircraft carrier fleet support at Newport News Shipbuilding, will directly report to Mahler as VP of fleet support programs with responsibility for aircraft carriers and submarines.
Smith is a more than three-decade shipbuilding industry veteran who previously held the roles of reactor plant planning yard director, engineering manager for Ford-class carriers and piping supervisor for Nimitz-class carriers at the HII division.
