TYSONS CORNER, VA, Nov. 21, 2017 Concurrent Technologies Corp. will build a prototype steam generator for a Fluor-backed (NYSE: FLR) company under an initial contract to produce a component of a proposed small modular reactor, ExecutiveBiz reported Nov. 13.
NuScale Powersaid Nov. 8 the CTC-operated Center for Advanced Nuclear Manufacturing in Pennsylvania will develop helical coil steam generators for the modular reactor, whose design is under Nuclear Regulatory Commission certification review.
“Small modular reactors and other advanced reactors are extremely promising next-generation electricity sources for this nation,” said Ed Sheehan Jr., president and CEO of CTC.
“We are excited to begin this important work and demonstrate the quality and efficiency advanced manufacturing can bring to this new energy technology.”
