A Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary has secured a potential seven-year, $2.3 billion contract from the U.S. Transportation Command to provide transportation and related services to the Defense Department.
Crowley Logistics will perform truckload, full truckload, expedited and refrigerated services for vendor facilities, DoD warehouses or depots and U.S. military installations in the U.S. and Canada, the company said Monday.
Frank Larkin, senior vice president and general manager of Crowley Maritime’s logistics and commercial services business, said the award reflects the company’s efforts to move beyond ocean transportation and offer complete supply chain services for customers.
Larkin added Crowley’s work under the contract will help create more than 70 new jobs in Jacksonville, Florida.
The contract contains two base years and five option years.
