Weggeman’s “deep understanding of the cyber threat environment will help Deloitte maximize our cyber security services for clients in the public and private sectors,” Mike Canning, a principal at Deloitte Consulting and Deloitte’s GPS leader, said in a statement published Thursday.
In his new role, Weggeman will lead mission-critical operations and help the firm further build up its cyber risk assessment capabilities and expand the delivery of cyber and tech services to federal, local and state governments.
His more than three-decade military career included time as deputy commander of Air Combat Command, head of Air Force Cyber Command and director of plans and policy at U.S. Cyber Command.
Weggeman also worked with congressional members and the office of the secretary of defense to help come up with cyber policy and strategy and determine training requirements to support the military branches’ cyber warfighting capabilities.
