Navy Picks Bollinger Shipyards for $123M Mine Countermeasures USV Production Work

Louisiana-based shipyard operator Bollinger will build a mine countermeasures unmanned surface vehicle for the U.S. Navy under a potential five-year, $122.9 million contract.

Naval Sea Systems Command received three bids through the SAM website for the firm-fixed-price contract, which has an initial value of $13.7 million and includes options that would extend work through April 2023, the Department of Defense said Friday.

The Navy’s fiscal 2021 other procurement fund will be used to finance the base period of performance of the contract.

Sixty-five percent of contracted services will take place in Lockport, Louisiana, and the remaining 35 percent in Virginia, Georgia and Ohio.

Bollinger was among the eight companies that won firm-fixed price contracts from the Navy in September 2020 to conduct studies of large USV.
