Boeing (NYSE: BA) has launched a new organization to build communications and computing platforms for government and commercial aerospace applications.
Charles Toups, formerly vice president and general manager of Boeing’s research and technology unit, will lead the Disruptive Computing and Networks organization that will operate in Southern California as part of the engineering, test and technology unit, the company said Wednesday.
DC&N will leverage quantum computing, advanced sensing and neuromorphic processing technologies to build platforms in artificial intelligence, communications and complex system optimization and will work with HorizonX to look for potential collaborators.

Toups has held senior business and management roles at Boeing such as VP of engineering at the companys defense, space and security business and VP of the satellite systems business.
Naveed Hussain, VP of aeromechanics technology at Boeing, has been appointed head of the BR&T organization that has approximately 4K scientists and engineers, five U.S. facilities and six research centers abroad.
Hussain has led the companys platform and networked systems technology for BR&T, managed flight engineering for BDS business and unveiled the BR&T-India research center in Bangalore since joining Boeing as a Howard Hughes Doctoral Fellow.
