Boeing, Northrop, Raytheon Take Part in MDA Dual-Salvo Test of Ground-Based Midcourse Defense System

TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 27, 2019 ” An industry team consisting of Boeing (NYSE: BA), Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) worked with the Missile Defense Agency to test the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system’s ability to intercept an intercontinental ballistic missile, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

Boeing said Monday the team launched two ground-based interceptors, which Raytheon identified as its Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicles, to counter a representative missile threat in space and destroy remaining debris as part of a “two-shot salvo” engagement.

Northrop produced the ICBM target, integrated data from various sensors and provided a “battle plan” based on the data, communicated the said information to the missile silo to launch the EKVs and directed the interceptors to the target.
