The former U.S. Air Force commander will have oversight of the Boeing division, which leads its research efforts for the company’s defense business and helps bid for U.S. government contracts.
Miller joined Boeing from Northrop Grumman, where he served as vice president within its aeronautics sector, initially focusing on mission assurance and programs and then on engineering later.
He was also a former senior vice president at Gulfstream Aerospace. He came to the aircraft company as an experimental test pilot in 2013, became its vice president of flight operations in 2016 and was promoted to SVP of innovation, engineering and flight in 2019.
Miller served with the Air Force before joining the industry.

Phantom Works, which is divided into separate organizations within Boeing Defense, Space and Security, will be combined into a single division.
