Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a $1.3 billion contract to build and deliver 17 F/A-18 multi-role strike fighter jets and a technical data package for fleet sustainment to the U.S. Navy.
The service branch expects the delivery of the new Super Hornets to commence in winter 2026 and reach completion in spring 2027, Naval Air Systems Command said Tuesday.
The contract encompasses the production of two F/A-18F and five F/A-18E lot 47 aircraft and the provision of phase one F/A-18E/F and EA-18G technical data package that covers the operation, installation, maintenance and training data in support of the Navy’s aircraft sustainment efforts, according to the Department of Defense.
Work will occur in Missouri, California, Maine, Canada, Pennsylvania, Ohio and various locations within and outside the continental U.S. through April 2027.
Rear Adm. John Lemmon, program executive officer for tactical aircraft programs, said the technical data package is a critical part of ensuring naval aviation’s operational readiness and post-production sustainment.
“The Super Hornet remains a predominant aircraft in the carrier air wing and will continue to provide significant combat capability into the 2040s,” Lemmon said,
