TYSONS CORNER, VA, May 26, 2017 Boeing (NYSE: BA) will design, build and test a demonstration spacecraft for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in support of efforts to use a hypersonic aircraft that would bring national security payloads to space with less cost and time spent, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
DARPA said Wednesday it selected Boeing’s initial design for the Experimental Spaceplane or XS-1 program that seeks to establish a low-cost and short-notice way to launch satellites.
The company will proceed to advanced design, fabrication and flight activities under Phases 2 and 3 of the program.
