Michael Fey, president and chief operating officer at Sunnyvale, California-based security and network technology provider Blue Coat, will serve in the same roles at Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC) upon completion of the latter company™s acquisition of Blue Coat.
Symantec said Monday Fey will report to the incoming Symantec CEO Greg Clark, formerly CEO of Blue Coat.
Symantec agreed to acquire Blue Coat for approximately $4.65 billion cash in June and that both companies expect to finalize the deal in the third calendar quarter of 2016.
Dan Schulman, chairman of the board of directors at Symantec, said Fey will work to leverage the upsell and cross-sell capabilities of Blue Coat and Symantec as well as combine both companies™ œgo-to-market functions through the transaction, which will merge Symantec™s threat telemetry with Blue Coat™s cloud and network security offerings.
Before he moved to Blue Coat in 2014, Fey worked at Intel Security as executive vice president, chief technology officer and general manager of corporate products.
He was responsible for corporate acquisitions and global customer engagement functions as senior VP of advanced technologies and field engineering at Intel Security™s McAfee.
The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University alumnus also held leadership roles at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Mercury Interactive and Opsware.
