The Department of Defense said Friday the fixed-price incentive contract modification involves the procurement of five CMV-22B Osprey aircraft. The Bell Textron and Boeing collaboration will work on the project at several locations in and outside the United States. The majority of the work will be conducted in Texas, particularly in Forth Worth, Amarillo, McKinney and Red Oak. Other work sites include Ridley Park, Pennsylvania; Park City, Utah and East Aurora and Endicott in New York. Some of the work will be performed within the continental U.S. and different sites outside of the continental U.S. The contract is expected to run through January 2028.
The Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland, serves as the contracting activity. It will provide an initial amount of $132.1 million from the Navy’s fiscal 2024 aircraft procurement funds. The initial fund will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
Previous V-22 Osprey Contract Modification
In July 2018, the joint venture previously received a potential $4.19 billion contract modification to manufacture various variants of the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. The contract provided 39 CMV-22B units to the Navy, one CV-22B to the Air Force and 14 MV-22B units to the Marine Corps. It also covered the production of four MV-22Bs for Japan.
