Bechtel Unveils Transition Timeline for Vice Chairman, CEO, COO Roles

Bechtel has appointed current CEO Bill Dudley as vice chairman, President and Chief Operating Officer Brendan Bechtel as the next chief executive and Jack Futcher — president of the company™s oil, gas and chemicals business — as group president and COO.

The company said Tuesday the executive leadership changes will take effect on Sept. 1.

“Bill has been a dynamic leader for our company as CEO and previously as president & COO, where he was pivotal to Bechtel achieving a decade of extraordinary growth, ” said Bechtel Board Chair Riley Bechtel.

“Further, Jack and Brendan are the right team to provide strong leadership in support of the very capable team they have developed as we approach a period of volatility in our markets.”

Dudley has worked at Bechtel since 1981 and was appointed as the company’s first non-family member CEO in 2014 after prior service as president and COO.

The incoming vice chairman will also continue to serve on the board of directors — where he has been a member since 2000.

Brendan Bechtel will succeed Dudley to become the fifth-generation family member to serve as Bechtel’s CEO.

He was appointed to the board in 2014 and previously worked as president of OG&C and general manager of the liquefied natural gas business.

Futcher led OG&C’s diversification efforts and growth strategy in the LNG sector in his previous role.

The 36-year company veteran also held roles as global manager of procurement, project manager on energy mega-projects, president of the power business and executive sponsor for the mining and metals business.
