BAE Names 3 Collaborators on Design Bid for Army's Next Gen Combat Vehicle Program

BAE Systems has tapped Curtiss-Wright and the U.S. business arms of Elbit Systems and QinetiQ to collaborate on its bid for the U.S. Army’s next generation infantry fighting vehicle development program.

BAE said Wednesday it submitted a proposal for the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle program of the service branch and will aim to put forward an agile, lethal and survivable design through its work with industry partners.

Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions helped BAE create a standardized, Modular Open Systems Architecture that will be integrated into the OMFV design to enable rapid technology updates. Vehicle electronics and control systems will also be provided.

In addition, Elbit Systems of America is selected to supply its 50mm unmanned turret or UT50 to arm the concept vehicle with XM913 50mm cannon and high-capacity ammunition handling system while QinetiQ US is tasked to codevelop a hybrid electric drive and integrate it with an electric cross-drive transmission for battlefield maneuverability.

BAE and its partners will work on project elements at various U.S. facilities. The company was among the five contractors tapped by the Army in July 2021 to present digital concept designs for OMFV program.
