BAE Acquires Riptide Autonomous Solutions; Terry Crimmins Quoted

BAE Systems™ U.S. subsidiary has completed its purchase of Plymouth, Mass.-based unmanned underwater vehicle provider Riptide Autonomous Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

BAE Systems Inc. said Monday its electronic systems sector will absorb Riptide staff primarily to support the FAST Labs organization, which develops technological offerings for use in defense, security and aerospace domains.

Terry Crimmins, president of BAE Systems Electronic Systems, said Riptide™s tech platforms will help the company to deliver a set of UUVs and integrated payload platforms in support of critical missions.

œCoupling our extensive expertise in sonar, signal processing, sensor fusion, undersea communications, electronic warfare, and autonomous systems with Riptide™s unique UUV platforms will enable us to affordably address rapidly expanding maritime mission requirements in the global defense, commercial, and research markets, Crimmins added.

BAE intends to retain Riptide™s Plymouth-based facilities to further expand presence in the New England area.

The Nashua, N.H.-based electronic systems business provides electronic warfare, geospatial intelligence, communications, surveillance, power and energy management and defense electronics systems for flight and engine control.
