AT&T Gets $725M VA Network Modernization Task Order Under EIS Vehicle; Chris Smith Quoted

AT&T (NYSE: T) has received a potential 12-year, $725 million task order to help the Department of Veterans Affairs modernize its data communications platform to facilitate the delivery of health care and other benefits to approximately 18 million veterans and their families and support other missions.

The company said Thursday it will provide virtual private networking, wide area networking, managed network services and other capabilities to help VA update its internet protocol-based data network as part of the task order awarded under the General Services Administration’s Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract vehicle.

“We’re thrilled to complement our broad array of AT&T programs that benefit veterans with an advanced data communications platform and capabilities that will power VA’s mission for years to come,” said Chris Smith, vice president of civilian and shared services for AT&T’s public sector business and a previous Wash100 Award winner.

AT&T, which has secured nearly three dozen awards through the EIS vehicle to date, has begun planning work with VA on the task order.
